Natural Support for Eczema and Psoriasis
If you are looking for an alternative to steroids to treat these atopic dermatitis conditions, let’s talk about approaching it naturally from the inside out.
Eczema and psoriasis are now recognized as autoimmune issues. Eczema has an inflammation aspect and psoriasis has abnormal skin growth issues. Since both are autoimmune concerns, their causes come from immune system and gut (stomach and intestinal) issues.
What supplements do we recommend for eczema and psoriasis?
Extra Strength Probiotic: supports the good bacteria in the gut and crowds out the bad bacteria that may contribute to autoimmune issues. Probiotics also decrease the symptoms and risks of eczema and food allergy skin issues, modify inherited allergy-associated genes, and decrease metal intestinal and skin allergy symptoms. The capsule may be opened, and powder content mixed with room temperature or cooler foods for children.
Recommended dose: 1 daily with or without food.
A D3 K2: supports the immune system and normal skin activity and has anti-inflammatory actions. This blend is synergistic for the skin. It can sooth red, dry and itchy skin and even help withdark circles under the eyes!
Recommended dose: 1 daily with food.
CurcuExcel Pro: curcumin reduces skin inflammation and helps heal the digestive tract. NAC (N-acetylcysteine) helps heal the skin and enhances the absorption of curcumin.
Recommended dose: 1-2 twice daily with or without food.
EPA/DHA Fish Oil: can inhibit inflammation, reduce itch-related scratching and dryness. Researchers believe fish oil helps reduce leukotriene B4, an inflammatory substance that plays a role in eczema.
Recommended dose: 1 daily, best absorbed with food.
Vital Zinc: helps with wound healing and immune system balance.
Recommended dose: 1 daily with food.
Rx Considerations: Ask our pharmacist about prescription LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). Naltrexone is not a new drug, but when used off-label at very low doses, has shown in many trials and studies to be oftherapeutic benefit for a wide range of conditions including autoimmune diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic pain, mental health challenges and inflammation due to LDN increasing the body’s natural endorphins which have a critical role in regulating and enhancing the immune system and providing pain relief.
Food List:
(1) Avoid foods that are highly allergic or may cause intestinal problems that increase allergy and immune issues. Common foods that cause allergic reactions are dairy, soy, citrus, peanuts, wheat (sometimes all gluten-containing grains), fish, eggs, corn, and tomatoes.
(2) Drink purified or filtered water that is chlorine/chloramine free. Chlorine and chloramine in municipal water may kill the good bacteria inside the intestines.
(3) Avoid sodas and sweet tea since sugar feeds yeast overgrowth in the intestines and can also contribute to systemic inflammation.
